NEWARK, NJ - OFFICE OF VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND TRAUMA RECOVERY

In February 2024, I was once again honored to be approached by the City of Newark to take on a significant project for the Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery (OVPTR), a vital department dedicated to addressing the impacts of violence and providing support for affected communities. This project involved the creation of an updated business brand guideline kit designed to reflect the department’s evolving mission, values, and the important work they do to promote healing and recovery within the city.

OVPTR BUSINESS BRAND GUIDELINES

The primary goal of the business brand guidelines was to establish a cohesive and professional visual identity for OVP/TR, one that would resonate with both the communities they serve and the stakeholders they engage with. This involved revisiting their existing brand assets and refining them to better align with the department’s core objectives. The new guidelines included everything from logo usage, color palettes, and typography to graphic styles, tone of voice, and application guidelines—all intended to ensure consistency across print, digital, and promotional materials. The final kit serves as a comprehensive reference for anyone working on OVP/TR’s branding, providing clarity and structure for their messaging and visual presentation.

OVPTR MEDIA KIT

In addition to the brand guidelines, I was also tasked with creating a media kit that would support the launch of their new website. The media kit was designed to act as a comprehensive resource for the department’s external communications, providing key media assets, press release templates, and promotional materials that aligned with the new branding and tone of the website. This kit was essential in helping the department effectively communicate their message to the public and other key partners, ensuring a strong, unified presence both online and offline.

This project was particularly meaningful to me, as it allowed me to showcase a broad range of skills, including creative strategy, technical design expertise, and professional collaboration. Working with a government department on such a crucial initiative not only required a high level of design proficiency but also demanded an understanding of the department’s mission and how to communicate that visually. It was a privilege to contribute to an effort that plays such an important role in the well-being of Newark’s residents, and I am proud to have helped build a visual identity and toolkit that will support their important work for years to come.
